Valiant Gold and Mako Mining Partner to Advance Comet Gold Mine Restart

Mako Mining is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Valiant Gold Limited as the preferred underground mining partner for the dewatering, rehabilitation and operational restart of the historic Comet Gold Mine, located near Cue in Western Australia’s Murchison Goldfields.

This appointment represents an exciting milestone for both companies and marks the commencement of a strategic partnership focused on safely returning the Comet underground operation to production.

Under the initial scope of works, Mako Mining will provide project management, underground mine rehabilitation, dewatering, infrastructure establishment and operational support services required to prepare the mine for future production activities. The project will involve the staged restoration of underground access, installation of key site infrastructure and implementation of systems necessary to support the restart of mining operations.

Since its establishment in 2011, Mako Mining has successfully delivered underground development, production and project management services across a range of Western Australian gold and nickel operations. More recently, the Company has demonstrated its capability in the mobilisation, dewatering and operational establishment of underground mining projects, including the restart of the Second Fortune Gold Mine and the mobilisation and ongoing operation of the Two Boys Gold Mine.

The Comet project provides an opportunity to apply this experience to another historic Western Australian underground mining operation, supporting Valiant Gold’s vision of bringing the asset back into production through a disciplined and staged redevelopment approach.
